Middle Passage Ceremony and Port Marker

Remembrance Ceremony
Feb. 7, 2015 at noon at the Castillo de San Marcos north lawn – This ancestral remembrance ceremony for Africans honors those who died in the transatlantic voyage known as the Middle Passage and the survivors who built the nation. The ceremony includes:
- Native American blessing
- Historical statement
- Prayers by diverse faith representatives
- Traditional libation led by Spiritual Advisor Malidoma Some
Marker Unveiling
Feb. 7, 2015 at 3 p.m. at the Mission of Nombre de Dios – A Middle Passage marker related to St. Augustine’s history will be unveiled.
Both events are free and open to the public.
